More than 50,000 people and 12 major groups support JDRF’s #Coverage2Control campaign, and we need your voice again. UnitedHealthcare has a new insulin pump agreement with Medtronic that is a significant step backward in giving children with T1D what they need to manage their disease and stay healthy. The policy change will directly impact children ages 7-17, who did not previously have restrictions related to a preferred brand of insulin pump.
Less choice for children is unacceptable.
Send a letter now to UnitedHealthcare to join us in urging the company to reconsider this decision. For people with diabetes, being able to choose and afford what they need to control their disease is critical.
Reducing insulin pump choice for children is particularly disturbing as the adoption of pump technology is especially important to the long-term health of children. Insurance restrictions like this are bad for people with T1D, bad for children and their caregivers, and bad for our healthcare system.
